Towerblock Radio does more than stream music. We pay for the licences, technology and infrastructure required to broadcast legally and reliably. We preserve pirate-radio history, support emerging talent and create practical opportunities for people to learn broadcasting, DJing, music production and digital media.
Independent radio is not free to run. Every broadcast requires licensing, software, infrastructure, people, equipment and time. Your support helps us pay artists and rights holders properly, keep the station online, protect underground music history and create practical opportunities for the next generation.

Why Independent Radio Needs Support
Towerblock Radio is building an independent home for underground music, cultural heritage and community opportunity. Your support helps cover the real cost of broadcasting while funding workshops, mentoring, training, archive work, events and opportunities for emerging artists and DJs.
Legal Music Broadcasting
PRS for Music and PPL licences ensure songwriters, performers and rights holders are paid when their music is played. Without these licences, Towerblock cannot broadcast legally.
Always-On Infrastructure
Stream hosting, scheduling software, music recognition, website and archive systems operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Specialist technology costs are ongoing and unavoidable.
Fair Pay for Real Work
Community radio cannot be sustained through unpaid labour alone. Support allows us to pay facilitators, mentors, technical staff and coordinators fairly for professional work.
Cultural Preservation
Pirate radio, grime, garage and bass culture changed British music. Much of that history is at risk of disappearing. Preservation requires digitisation, cataloguing and storage.
Safeguarding & Compliance
Running a responsible community station means maintaining safeguarding, insurance, DBS checks, data protection and financial controls — all of which carry real costs.
Community Opportunity
Support funds free and subsidised workshops, mentoring, travel bursaries and practical learning for people who may not otherwise access the music and media industries.

Music Licensing & Royalties
Playing music legally carries a real cost. PRS for Music and PPL licensing helps ensure songwriters, composers, performers, labels and rights holders are paid when their music is broadcast. As our audience grows, our royalty and reporting responsibilities grow with it.
Radio Broadcasting Software
Our radio platform manages the stream, schedule, live shows, prerecorded programmes, metadata and listener reporting. Reliable broadcasting requires specialist software operating every hour of every day.
Music Recognition & Reporting
Music-recognition technology helps us identify what is being played, create accurate track histories and improve reporting. This is especially important for underground music where track information is often incomplete, unreleased or difficult to identify.
Website, Hosting & Digital Infrastructure
Towerblock is more than an audio stream. The website, schedule, archive, artist profiles, membership platform, applications, community tools and broadcaster portal all require secure hosting, storage and ongoing technical maintenance.
Equipment & Studio Costs
Professional broadcasting and training require reliable equipment. Support helps us maintain a safe, accessible studio where DJs, presenters, artists and community participants can learn, create and broadcast.
People & Professional Delivery
Towerblock depends on skilled people. Community radio, safeguarding, technical delivery, partnerships, workshops and events cannot be sustained through unpaid labour alone. Support allows us to pay people fairly for professional work.

Pirate radio, grime, garage and bass culture changed British music, but much of that history remains undocumented or at risk of disappearing. Support helps Towerblock preserve recordings, stories, flyers, photographs and first-hand accounts for future generations.

Community events, listening sessions, talks, exhibitions and showcases bring people together and create platforms for emerging talent. Each event carries real costs for venue, production, accessibility and participant support.
Safeguarding, Insurance & Compliance
Running a community station responsibly means maintaining proper safeguarding, insurance and compliance. Support helps us meet our legal and ethical obligations to participants, audiences and partners.

We want supporters to understand how Towerblock uses its money. We will publish regular impact updates and annual reporting showing what we raised, what we spent and what the community achieved.

CIC annual reports, impact reports and annual accounts will be published here as they become available. Towerblock Radio CIC is required to file an annual community interest report with the Regulator of Community Interest Companies.
Reports will be uploaded as Towerblock completes its first financial year.
