AI Generated Content Policy

Purpose

This policy sets out how Towerblock Radio CIC uses, manages and discloses AI-generated content in its broadcasting, digital and creative activities.

Scope

This policy applies to all AI-generated content used or published by Towerblock Radio CIC, including text, images, audio, music and video.

Definitions

• AI-generated content means content created or significantly modified by artificial intelligence tools.
• Generative AI means AI systems that create new content based on patterns learned from training data.
• Disclosure means informing the audience that content is AI-generated.

Responsibilities

The board approves the AI content policy. The Programming Lead manages AI-generated content in broadcasts. The Operations Lead manages AI tools and platforms.

Towerblock Radio CIC uses AI-generated content responsibly, transparently and in ways that support the organisation's mission, protect copyright and intellectual property, and maintain editorial integrity.

Detailed Procedures

Acceptable use of AI

AI-generated content may be used for:

• Administrative and productivity tasks (e.g. drafting emails, summarising documents).
• Research and information gathering (with verification).
• Creative experimentation (with disclosure and human oversight).
• Technical tasks (e.g. audio enhancement, transcription).

Unacceptable use of AI

AI-generated content must not be used to:

• Create content that incites violence, hatred or discrimination.
• Deceive the audience about the nature or origin of content.
• Impersonate a real person without consent.
• Create deepfakes that could mislead or harm.
• Replace human creativity without disclosure in contexts where authenticity matters.
• Infringe copyright or intellectual property.

Disclosure

• AI-generated content published or broadcast by Towerblock Radio CIC should be disclosed where it could reasonably be mistaken for human-created content.
• AI-generated music, voice or images used in broadcasts should be flagged to listeners.
• AI-assisted research or drafting that is reviewed and edited by a human does not require disclosure.

Copyright and IP

• AI-generated content may not be clearly protectable by copyright.
• AI tools should not be used to reproduce or closely imitate the work of identifiable artists, DJs or creators without permission.
• AI-generated content should not be presented as original human-created work.

Music and audio

• AI-generated music may be used for background, transitions or experimental content with disclosure.
• AI-generated music must not be presented as the work of a named artist.
• AI voice cloning must not be used to imitate a real person without their consent.

Quality and accuracy

• AI-generated content must be reviewed by a human before publication or broadcast.
• AI-generated factual content must be verified for accuracy.
• AI-generated content must meet the same editorial standards as human-created content.

Data protection

• Personal data must not be entered into AI tools without ensuring compliance with UK GDPR.
• AI tools that process personal data must have appropriate data processing agreements.

Reporting Process

Concerns about AI-generated content should be reported to the Programming Lead.

• Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.
• UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
• Ofcom Broadcasting Code (where applicable).
• Equality Act 2010.

Monitoring

The Programming Lead monitors AI-generated content use. The board reviews AI policy annually.
